The People in Agriculture (PiA) website, a joint initiative between government and industry bodies representing key agricultural sectors, aims to support the future health and growth of Australia’s agricultural workforce.

“Continuing to attract great people into the industry is the key to ensuring a bright future for Australian agriculture, and this is what inspired the development of the People in Agriculture,” states the PiA website.

The user- and mobile-friendly online portal was launched in mid-2016; a supporting YouTube channel began in late December 2016.

The PiA web portal and associated videos, targeted at the 320,000-odd people engaged in agriculture across Australia, aim to provide “all the latest information about working in the industry”.

Divided into sections for employers and employees, the website is loaded with useful information on industry-related issues, including expert advice on employment and what to expect from jobs in various agricultural sectors, career management, professional practice, managing staff, employment law, pay issues, visas and contracts, along with news stories on broader industry developments, inspirational case studies, industry contacts and more.

Check out the following video about the PiA platform's relevance to employers, then bookmark the website for future (frequent) reference.

The People in Agriculture initiative is backed by industry heavyweights Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), the Australian Government Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC), Dairy Australia, Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC), Australian Pork Ltd (APL), and Food & Agribusiness Solutions.
