Looking at on-farm biosecurity-management planning from a 'ground-up' approach, this free, hands-on workshop hosted by vegetable industry body AUSVEG will give attendees the latest industry updates with regard to managing biosecurity and developing sound on-farm biosecurity management plans.
Workshop topics and speakers
Topics and speakers at the half-day workshop will include:
- US Plant Biosecurity Study Tour – shared lessons: Dr Jessica Lye, RIRDC's Rural Woman of the Year for Victoria in 2016 (check out the video below) and AUSVEG Biosecurity Officer;
- LAMP Soil Analysis: undertaking leaf or soil pathogen diagnostics using portable PCRs – Dr Brendan Rodoni, leader of the Microbiology team at Agriculture Victoria’s Biosciences Research, based at the new Centre for AgriBioscience (AgriBio) at LaTrobe University;
- Developing an on-farm biosecurity management plan: Dr Jessica Lye, AUSVEG.
The workshop will be held in Clyde, Victoria, on the afternoon of Thursday 7 September 2017. Light refreshments will be included.
